No input signal through high level RCA
I am using a kicker 300.2 amp which accepts high-level input through a pair of RCA jacks. you have to use a kicker ZISL (a passive high-level to RCA adapter, Kicker 09ZISL Z-Series 2-Channel Speaker Level Signal Cable ).
my car came with a stock component rear speaker system consisting of a 6x9 woofer and like a 4" mid. the 6x9 originally only received a low-level signal, so when i replaced the original blown 6x9's with cheap coax's, i hooked them up to the mid wires.
now i connected the ZISL adapter to the wires originally for the 6x9, and my amp isn't getting any signal. a quick mock-up splicing into the mid wires didnt seem to work either.
stock HU, so rca out isnt there
any ideas for a fix?
Re: No input signal through high level RCA
Are you sure you have the line-level converter wired right? Sounds like you might have both +on one RCA and both - on the other.
You know for sure the amp works?
Re: No input signal through high level RCA
i can recheck the wiring, but im 99% sure i got it right the first time. i haven't rushed anything on this install. its a brand new amp, and it powers up fine. i dont really have any other way to test it though

Re: No input signal through high level RCA
The only way the 6x9 would get a low level signal is if it had an amplifier built-in, like a Bose or Infinity system.
If you connect to a low level output, you don't want to feed that to a high level input or you won't output. Keep the amp on low level input if that is the case.
Play a 60Hz test tone and measure AC voltage on the factory 6x9 wires to verify signal strength.
Does the amp power up? verify operation with an mp3 player. What are you powering? Verify crossover position and setting.
You could have just made your own by soldering speaker wires onto an RCA. That is all that adapter is.
Re: No input signal through high level RCA
my car has a factory monsoon system with a small amp under the rear deck, but it doesnt have any controls or normal inputs.
can i just run a 3.5mm to rca from mp3 player to amp on high-level?
(i figured thats all the adapter was, but i have 0 soldering experience and i got it really cheap)
Re: No input signal through high level RCA
you would need to set the amp to low level. do that first. then yes, a 3.5mm to RCA into the low level input on the amp.
Re: No input signal through high level RCA
well i didnt have time ti mess with it before work, but when i got in my car and turned the radio on, it just started working. i dont understand what made a difference but whatever. thanks for the help guys
Re: No input signal through high level RCA
in that case you could have loose connections.
