    fuse question

    ok i know its been asked a million times but i cant seem to get a straight answer. im going to be running an saz 1500d hopefully getting 1900+ rms @1ohm @14.4 volts. my question is what size anl fuse do i need for under the hood?

    @1900w at 14.4v your draw will be 132a. so a 150a fuse should do you fine. hope that helps, im curios to see what others will say also tho

    btw that was just using ohms law of a=w/v

    From my understanding you fuse for the max amp the wire is capable of not what the amp is capable of pulling.

    im using 2/0 flexaprene welding cable and the amp itself is 4x40 iirc

    You fuse the wire, not the amp(s). So you can 300a or so.

    Sorry for that then. I was told you fuse for what the amp draws that way there is no surges in the wire causing something to happen to the amp. Guess I shouldn't of believed everything a few years ago. Sorry op I was misinformed

    the fuses in the amp are there to protect the amp.

    if it doesnt have fuses in it then you need something inline by the amp to make sure it will be ok.

    that said. if you run your stuff correctly you should never need to rely on those fuses.
