need help wiring 3.5mm jack into old stereo.

so today i started a new project to wire in a headphone cable into my stereo so i can connect my ipod.
my car is an 83 toyota cressida.
Since it has no aux ports or anything like that my plan is to just wire in the 3.5 jack into the audio source and add a switch onto the source to turn off the radio audio so the ipod audio will play.
Problem is.....i can't find where the source is..
im looking in the volume control knob area right now and am having no luck.

any help with this or with a better/easier way would be appriciated
