Need help with component wiring???

Hey guys,
I am about to get an amp to power my components set. Do I have to have a 4 channel amp, or do you just need a 2 channel amp? Sorry for the noob question. Thanks in advance for the help.

depends on how many speakers you want to hook up to the amp. if you want just 1 component set get a 2 chan amp, if your running multiple components get a 4 chan amp

I'm looking at the JL Auido 3-way component set XR-Series. It has:
2-6.5" mids
2-4" mids
2-1" tweeters

do they all connect to the same crossover? if they do a powerful 2 ch amp is in your future. if they dont, just connect all mids where you should have the mids and the tweeters where they say to wire them. either way youre running JL XR series, a powerful 2 ch amp will do the trick (for one component set)
