    loud popping noise

i recently put in a crunch gp3000 and i havnt upgraded my fuses yet(i have 150 up front and 200 by the battery)...when i turn it up really loud one of the subs make a popping sound. ive had this problem before but it was when my fuses were BLOWN. is the popping coming from the small fuses? also, the bass just shuts off at high volumes even when the voltage is around 13.4

sounds like you might have your positive 0 ga grounding out to the frame! Your amp is gonna pull more than 200 amps of current...

and if it's shutting off at high volumes... bad ground 9\10 times... where are you grounded to in the back?

    Re: loud popping noise

The last time my speakers were making a popping noise was then I overpowered them.

Also, fuses can't make popping noises. They are only a small piece of wire that burns out at a certain current. They don't make any noise when they burn out, and so long you don't pull too much current the fuse wont affect anything - it'll only burn out (e.g. shut down your amp) when you pull too much.

As for the amp shutting down, it may be going into protect mode. My old pioneer used to do this, when I cranked the volume too high my subs would make a POP and then the amp would switch into protect mode. The first time it happened I thought I blew my subs up, because the cones nearly shot out they had that much excursion; I think the amp sent a really bad clipped output before it went into protect mode. It was because my gain was set too high - e.g. basically the amp was pushed past it's limit.

the fuses didnt actualy make the noise...like they would bump fine but when i turned it up or when it drew too much voltage they would then pop(the subs.) it might be from low voltage but then again my votlage was at 13.5+ when this happend.
