    Install advice needed

I have Infinity Reference components in the front, stock 5 1/4 in rear with a small powered sub in the rear for fill, a 4 channel MTX amp and a Kenwwod Excelon installed in a SUV. I just had the Excelon installed to replace a Pioneer.

My question is what speakers should I run off the amp?

Sound was great until the install of the Excelon. I'm not sure if the installer changed the setup. Now, all the bass in coming from the small sub and the Infinity's up front sound like cardboard speakers and hurt my ears. I used to get some bass from the front along with great highs and mids. I'm guessing that the fronts were powered off the amp and the rears were off the HU before the change. I'm not sure if the difference is between the Pioneer and the Kenwood or the way the new one was set up.

My goal is to have good clean sound with a little added bass again.

    Any help appreicated.

    Re: Install advice needed

You will probably need to adjust the settings on the Excelon deck. There are going to be crossover settings that will allow you to add bass and remove some of the treble. Play with those settings and you should be fine.

I've been adjusting the crossover and all other settings for a couple of days, nothing helps. It seems like there isn't any range in the adjustments.

Read the instruction manual all the way through. That will help a lot.

    Re: Install advice needed

Read the instruction manual again, still sounds like crap. While playing with the settings I noticed that if I fade all the way to the rear the sound dies completely. And, I found the wiring harness that was used for the Pioneer under my front seat. Could they have used the wrong harness?

The difference between the two setups is like night and day. Both HU are new, Excelon X569 and Pioneer DEH 5500. I'm bringing it back to the shop next week and any help with this is much appreicated.

u could try running sub/fronts off amp so itll b bridge to 2 channels and have the stock rears running off deck power, but i dunno what amp/sub you got so i wouldnt suggest it just yet

    Re: Install advice needed

Ask whoever did the last install what he fukked with. Check the hipass frequency and gain settings on the amp.
