Icon32 Setup with RF 350s amp

    I was wondering how I would have to wire two 10"s together in a dual enclosure if I have a RF 350s amp. (85W x 2 @ 4 ohms ; 350W x 1 @ 4ohms ; 175W x 2 @ 2ohms) Would I need two 4 ohms subs or two 8ohms subs? HELP!?!?

you can use either two (2) 2ohm wired in series to create a 4ohm load and bridge your amp (350x1) - or you can use two (2) 8ohm wired in parallel to create a 4ohm load and bridge your amp 350x1) - or you can use two (2) 2ohm wired in stereo to your amp (175x2).

    good luck and good listening!

Does it matter, quality-wise, which way I wire them? Also, what does it mean to wire them parallel and in series? Thanx in advance.

the reason you would wire in series or in parallel is to better match the ohm rating of the subs to maximize the watts being output by your amp. i would prefer the two 8ohm wired in parallel to create a 4ohm load for your amp and then bridge it to mono. that way both subs would be working together as apposed to against each other in stereo mode. for a diagram of wiring in parallel, look at my web page(click on the link under my signature) on page six there is a wiring diagram for a dual voice coil sub wired in parallel - you can replace the dual voice coils with two single voice coil subs and just make sure you wire the amps/subs pos(+) to pos(+) and neg(-) to neg(-).

    good luck and good listening!

So.... is it worse to wire them in series rather than wire two 8ohm subs in parallel?

no... it just depends on the particular equipment you have. each set up may be different due to sub's ohms and amp's capabilities. after you decide on what you are going to buy, let us know what you got and we will guide you from there.

    good luck and good listening!
