    Indivdual speaker on/off switch possible???

Ok Im thinking about getting a 5 Channel Memphis Bell MCH1300 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-MCH1300.html#)

to run some 6.5" Elemental Designs midbass subs (http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...9d6fbb2f2a5a8c)
that Ill run with a 15" RE Sx and I was wondering if i got some toggle switches to go on a set (Im getting 8, 4 for midbass and the other 4 for the sub channel) of the speakers, could I put them inbetween the amp and the speakers, so that I could basically cut the sub channels off.

So that when I have the 15 playing for cruising and it gets late or I want to be "quiet". I could cut the sub off with the HU and hit the switch for the subs in the doors and deck would play.

Sound like a good idea or would it cause problems with sound or anything

or maybe just hit the subwoofer off button on your headunit....most decent head units with sub outs have this feature.

Re: Indivdual speaker on/off switch possible???

Get a switch and use it to activate a relay that breaks the connection between either the positive/negative wire going to the sub.

Or tap into your RCA's and use the switch to break the connection between one of the RCA wires, but I recommend going to the speaker wire on the sub.

Re: Indivdual speaker on/off switch possible???

no no no, Im running the 15 on a monoblock, I want to have 2 substages basically. either 4 6.5" subs or the 15 and I was wondering if I could put a switch between the 5 channel amp and the 6.5's to turn them on or off and I planed to have a switch to on the 15" subs amp.

I cant put a switch on the 5 channel itself cause itll cut my highs out

An active setup with the PRS880 allows you to turn individual speakers on and off.

look, sub output is going to have to go from sub amp to the Memphis, so if I cut the subs off at the HU I wont have any bass. All I want to know is can I put the toggle switch inbetween a amp and the speakers without any issues

do like he said you should be able to use a switch going to a relay then seperate the speaker lead going to the sub. or put a switch between one of the speaker leads that too should work.

but i could be wrong i couldn't find where i saw a diagramn like that somewhere.

Re: Indivdual speaker on/off switch possible???

Why not use one of those push button things...my little brother has one on his home audio stuff. I am sure parts express sells the "selector"

Basically, one set of RCAs go into the the selector, and two sets go out. You would just press "a" or "b". But that would mean you would need differet amps.

Re: Indivdual speaker on/off switch possible???

What you might want to look at is a DPDT (double post double throw) toggle switch with a center off position. Flip the switch up and it will be in phase, flip the switch down and it will be 180* out of phase, leave it in the middle and the channel is off. This gives you more than one use than a simple on-off switch and flipping your sub out of phase like this is awesome for tuning.

I'd recommend NOT taping your signal leads. That sounds like a noisy disaster.
