Mechman Alternator question

I got it installed everything seems to be working right, but it makes this real annoying sqeaking noise that my stock one didnt make. Anyone know what it is?

belt slip most likely........ the mechman pulley is smaller than the stock one for increased amps at idle/ all rpms you might need a smaller belt.
just go to autovalue or napa and ask someone that knows how to read belt sizes and get smaller belt mabye .25" smaller or .5" smaller. should solve your problem

Belt whine? Make sure the belt is tight and everything is lined up correctly...

I actually do hear a slight wine.

nah mechman dosnt sell them........... go to napa or any automotive shop and tell them what kind of car you have and say you need a belt that is about 1/2" smaller (doesnt have to be exactly 1/2" smaller, the tensioner will make up for it ) than the stock belt. should be about $20.00.

^^agreed. Your local auto parts store should have somebody that will be able to help you. new belt should be under 30 dollars

dont do that. He makes the pulleys smaller for a reason........... to give more output. change ur belt its the easiest solution, and its exactly what Matt at mechman will tell you.

I would try the belt first..easiest and most likely the cheapest solution.

The gold thing with grooves , that the belt sits on/around.

it depends on whats cheaper. the belt or the idler pully. not the fcking pulley on the alternator u idiot.

but when i had my tripple alt bracket we couldnt seem to find a buy that would fit snug to get rid of belt squeel so i bought a larger idler pulley. and it was 5x cheaper than buying another 80 dollar belt.
