    amp protection light came on

i just installed 2 pioneer premier 12" subs with a profile ca1200 amp. when i finished wiring everything up, the bass was really quiet, and sounded really ******. it didn't get very loud at all, so i pushed the gain up to about 75% and turned up the bass boost, got back in the driver seat, and the amp just turned off and hte protection light was lit. i'm using 4 guage wiring with a 100a fuse. the subs are DVC, and i wired them each as a 2 ohm load on their own channel. what could be causing this? did i wire the subs wrong or is it not grounded properly or something? this *****...

what ohm subs are they? this is a mono amp correct? sounds like u wired it wrong, having not enough resistance, so ur amp got to hot = protection mode.. somewhere along those lines..

mgidica its a 2channel amp that is mono capable......its is 2ohm sterio stable....it does sound like your running the gain to high tho....make sure u set the gain correctly....if its not loud enough make sure u hve a big enough box....or try facing the subs a diff. direction.....

would definatly cause it to sound like poo.....not sure if that amp has any kind of circuit that detects bad wiring and puts it protect mode or not.....neverknow....i still say it sounds like the gain is set to high or something is wired wrong like to low of an ohm......how is everything wired....and are u sure its wired to a 2ohm sterio load?

i wasnt getting mad, i guess i swear regularly. But i mean if this kid reads it then goes and spends 2 hours of labor re-adjusting the fuse, he just wasted 2 hours.. no biggy man, i dont know everything either..

alright, i cut a hole in the chamber wall, and i wired the 2 together to make a 4 ohm load but the light is sitll on! this is making me mad. is there something i keep doing wrong? the manual says it could be a speaker short, or a speaker ground out, but i don't know how to figure out if either of those is legit.

EDIT: i just took a sub out of hte enclosure, and i wired up a single coil which is 4 ohms to one of hte channels on the amp and it's still in protection. what the hell!
