Installing Seas Neo tweets and mids...what should I do? Pics included

Hey guys. I'm in the process of installing what you see down in my sig and so far I got one door panel off and cleaned up, ready for some RAAmat to be applied.

My questions are simply how to figure out the best way to install my tweets and mids.

For the tweets, I had stock tweets in the sail panel so I know where the new tweets are going, I'm just having trouble figuring out how to install them. If you check out the pics I'm about to post, you can obviously see that the Neo tweets are smaller than the hole. What should I do that would simply put require the least amount of work involved that will allow me to securely install these? I also noticed that on the back there are threads holes....can these be used to screw them into a location?

This is how the stock tweet was mounted:



Now for the Mach 5 mids, to make them work, I simply use some 5/8" MDF, and cut out a circle around the mids. Then I cut a circular hole inside the bigger hole so it kinda looks like a doughnut? That way the mids have some space in them and the screw can go directly into the MDF board. That sound right?

MDF adapters for the mids and tweets, or if not possible for teh tweets you could cut some aluminum plate or even dense cardboard if MDF is too think. if you need to recess them plumbers tape often works. it's not really tape but thin metal sheet spooled up with holes in it. Bend it to shape and get some mounting hardware.

Trace the stock speaker flip it upside down on some MDF the voila! MDF adapters for the tweets

Should be a nice budget set up once it's done. I have a pair of Neo's still sitting around that I haven't tried out yet.

What exactly are MDF adapters? Just MDF cut to look like a doughnut? Something like this?

Are these simply called MDF adapters because you make them out of MDF, which was what I was going to do in the first place?

Lastly, regarding the tweets, how are they supposed to stay in place? I understand the MDF is used to secure the tweeter but what should I use to secure the MDF to the metal portion of the door panel? Make it large enough so I can drill a hole and screw it in there using the pre-existing screw holes already there? Or is there an easy method?

yes make them out of MDF. Can probably use 1/4" for the tweeters. Use the stock tweeter to trace the cut out on the MDF. Just use the factory holes to mount it.

Most use 1/2" or 3/4" for the mid baffles, depending how deep the magnet is and if you have window clearance issues.
