    F!&^%!&$!ing grommet ARRGHH

i just got my 1/0g (supposedly) firewall grommet in the mail- its made by PG and its a little bastard. i cant seem to get it to fit on my power wire. it took me 20 mins of twisting and turning to get this ****ded thing half way onto the wire. if i get some kinda lube like soap or something- i think it will slide on easier, but my question is if its not a good idea to have a somewhat soapy power wire...
    thanks for any input

You'll be fine. If you're at all worried, just dry it off with a rag when you're done

Electrical supply houses carry a non-conductive wire lubricant for tight pulls in conduit that works great for getting wires through grommets, too. One of the manufacturers is Ideal. I don't know if regular hardware stores or home centers (Home Depot, Lowe's) would carry this or not but definitely electrtical supply houses.

Heck, look around the neighborhood and see if you see an electrician working nearby that can give you a 'squirt'.
