Help! Wiring 2 Alpine DVC subs to alpine amp with alpine deck.

Hi! I've got an Alpine CDA 9815 deck, and 2x alpine DVC type-r SWR-1241D subs. I'm trying to run the subs via an Alpine MRD-M500 amplifier. The subs are dual 4-ohm DVC's, and the amp is a mono amp. It is designed for max power at 2-ohms. So, is there anyway I can run the subs at 2-ohms?? I believe I have a 4-ohm setup right now, and it sounds horrible (bass, what bass?). I have the bass (SUB-W on the deck) turned up all the way and I can barely feel the subs hitting from the front seat of my car (you know that feeling 2 12" subs give you when they hit). I only get that when I turn the deck to up like 20 in volume!!! I could get that at lower volumes (like 13 with the bass up to 5) on my old alpine cda 7995 and 2 DVC JL Audio 4-ohm subs with an MRP-M350 alpine amp. Could it be my box? (I belive I had the JL's running at 1-ohm though...). I have this box for the subs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3026984396 . I had to modify it a little bit because it was only 6 1/2" deep, and the alpine subs are 7" in depth. So I put 3/4" MDF rips between the subs and the box. Thanks for your help in advance.

Maybe because I had them running at 4-ohms? The are 300 rms 1000 peak subs... the amp does 250W RMS at 4ohms, and 500rms at 2-ohms (mono channel amp). From what I've heard, the type-r's are supposed to be some of the loudest subs you can get!

    Get another box...

Get another amp as well...giving those subs each about 125 watts isn't much...

DVC 4 ohm can only be wired to 1 or 4 ohm...

I think I should be able to run 'em at 1 ohm... I ran the 2 JL Audio 4-ohm DVC's at 1-ohm off of an alpine mrp-m350 (700W max). That amp is designed for 2-ohm as well, but ran 1-ohm just fine..

BTW, a single DVC CAN be wired to 2-ohms. + of coil 1 to - of coil 2. and - of coil 1 to + of coil 2. Then, + of coil 1 out to terminal, and - of coil 2 out to terminal.

Right... but I may be able to run both of 'em off the amp wired this way: wire each sub for 2-ohm. Put in box... Then run a wire from the - of one sub terminal to the + of the second sub terminal. Run the remaining + and - to the amp... This is 1-ohm, right? I had the alpine mrp-m350 running with that load with the JL's... Never had a problem... m350 is rated 200W at 4-ohms, and 350W at 2-ohms, and total power is 700W (1-ohm?). The JL's were 300W rms like the type-rs that I have now... The amp that I have (m500) is rated 250W at 4-ohms, 500W at 2-ohms, max power 1000W (1-ohm?)....

All the max is saying is that it can handle a single quick hit of up to 1000W. If you wire these subs the way you are stating, you will end up with 1000W RMS and you are opening the door to blow the holy bejesus out of your subs. If you want to maximize efficiency of these subs, your best bet is to run one of your subs on this amp at 2ohm, and get a second amp to run the other sub. If that is not an option for you, I would suggest getting either the M-1000 Alpine amp, or the Alpine MRV-T757. The T757's ratings are not too impresive, but the amp IS. The T757 runs at 300RMS and matches up with the subs perfectly!
