Will the 90amp alt in my 1995 blazer be able to handle a VIBE 1200D and a Kenwood KAC-X520?

Will it? Yea sure. I dont think it would do very good. The Vibe, I believe, has a max draw of 45A. That can cause a problem. There should be no problem at all with the deck. Thats minimal. I'm pretty sure you can run it. You might get just a little bit of dimmage when you turn your volume up over halfway or so. You can always just install a capacitor!Originally posted by Mindspin311

So actually... you shouldn't have much of a problem with it, other than some slight diming. If you dim, then get a cap.Hope that helps.
thanks, any other input?

Yeah, look into a little bigger alternator.Originally posted by Mindspin311

30 - Car's Electrical System
60 - For both of the amps
Getting a cap is going to make it worse, the alternator has to be able to handle the extra load. My advice, install it all and see how it goes. If you experience any problems, get your alternator rewound.

yea.....i'll leave that one alone for now....
yea i already know that a cap is only as strong as its charge and of course mine isnt that strong in the first place. So anyone in the atlanta area know where I can get mine rewound to about 115 amps?

check the phone book

you might as well get at least a 160A alt... neer know when you're gonna upgrade again to a more powerful system..Originally posted by Mindspin311

The 1200D will draw 110A or so at full tilt. So if you're planning to drive around 8 hrs a day blasing 40hz test tones you might have a problem - otherwise, you should be absolutely fine.
The excelon is a powerful amp, but if you're using it for mids-highs I don't think it will require anywhere NEAR its max current capabilities.
If it were me I see no reason at all to spend a couple hundred bux on an upgrade you very well may not need. I would say at worst - if it's installed right - you'll have slight dimming.

Do you know how much the 1200D pulls at 2ohms, which is most likely where Ill be running it at.Originally posted by n2audio

i would say get a new alt. when i had my stock alt. in my 93' jimmy i ran a RF 1000 and a RF 120.2 off my pioneer 9300. i had around 1200 watts rms total and my stock alternator went to the crapper. then i got a new one the mechanic was like oh this is the biggest i can fit there my dad believed him and it was another 90 amp alt. that one went goodbye in about 3 months running my blaupunkt 250.2 and MA 5011DX. i would say it is well worth getting a 160amp alt. and be done with it. why try and hurt your audio equipment by straining your alt. for that amperage when you can easily get a 160amp alt, never see any dimming and be fine. oh and if the opti pulls 110 at full tilt it will pull around 50-60 when he's cruzing then the mids/highs amp will pull around 10-15 so that's between 50-75amps when the car alone pulls 20-26 according to gm when i asked them. so if he's runnign a 90 amp alt and is pulling around 70amps for system and 26 for driving i.e. at night then he's screwed and will see dimming even as he cruzes down the road. my opinion seeing as how i was in this situation with a 2 year older car, get the 160amp alt last thing you want is to be driving and have it go out on you then your screwed and have to get towed.
