Question about wiring an amp and subs.

I plan on getting a Kicker SX900.2 and 2 12" Polk SR124-DVC. The amp says it will do 900watts at 4ohms bridged mono. The subs are 4 ohm dual voice coils. Could i wire the amp and subs in a way that each sub would be getting 450watts? (I thought i could, but after reading the wire guide I've confused myself and now don't know if i can.)

You have two ways you can do it...

One would be to wire each sub to 2 ohms and put one on each channel of the amp.

Alternatively, you could wire each sub 8 ohms, then wire them together for a final 4 ohm load that you could connect to the bridged connection on the amp. This makes it easier to set the gain as you only have to deal with setting it on one channel of the amp.

Thanks man. I thought i could do that but I wanted to make sure before i went off and bought stuff that wouldn't work.

Another question, I've also looked at a kicker SX1250.1 which does 1250x1 at 1ohm. If i bought the single 4ohm voice coil versions could i run them at a 1ohm load getting 625watts to each sub?

Since it's a monoblock, to get to 1 ohm you'd need 4 drivers. If you want to get there with two drivers, you'd need to go single 2, dual 4 or dual 1 on both.

So, if i stuck with 2 4ohm dvc SRs, then i could run those at 1ohm putting 625watts to both subs with the mono amp?
