    Icon33 wing rattle!!! HELP

I installed extreme dynomat to my trunk on my 98 civic ex. I didnt do the trunk lid, however the only thing that rattles is my wing..... I was going to get the spray V-Block and spray my trunk lid. Will this stop my wing from ratteling or should I spray that expanding foam stuff on the inside of my wing?? Need opinions please???? What will work??? What is the correct way? Oh yeah...its the middle of the wing flexxing and making a noise, not the actual wing ratteling on the trunk lid??

Well, you could get rid of the wing, but that's just my opinion. Please tell me you did something else to your car besides the wing and the fart cannon and anything else you could buy at Pep Boys.

I suggest doing the trunk lid with deadening, as well as trying the foam out...

Well, I'm sorry but i just can't stand that stuff anymore. You could probably use most sound dampeners to help stop the rattle, but also make sure that the wing is tightened down. Maybe to help things out, you could tell me what kind it is (fiberglass, aluminum, etc.) A picture would help too. Is that better MaDroX420? Does that satisfy his question??

EDIT: Maybe you could even try putting some weather stripping in between the wing and the truck lid, but just make sure you can't see it.

. I guess I should of asked the question like this..........................I installed extreme dynomat to my trunk on my 98 civic ex. I have a factory 00 Si wing on my car. I have silver metallic grapics going up the side, its lowered, CAI, rims and tires, Alpine system throughout the car/ Typer-R. Alpine alarm, lowered, thermal exhaust, titanium tint, momo shifter, interior work, tyc tails, hyper whites. Maybe that extra bit of info will help with the wing ratteling question. I think you can see the wing in this picture, cuz I know seeing the wing in a pic will also help with this question...... The weather stripping is already there between the wing and trunk lid..........

Sounds to me like the wing is a two piece design... or there is a form on the inside being a pain...

If you are POSITIVE that is the center of the issue - I'm really not sure of much you can do to eliminate the panels vibrating. (I have ideas, but nothing I want to suggest for fear you may damage the wing.)

If the wing is a molded one piece design, you are SOL aside from removing it honestly.

I know this is off topic and I'm sure nobody cares what I think but yeah lose the wing it's pointless unless you are going like 250+ ,that car would look sick without it and it seems like you are having problems with it... sell it and buy more sound damping material...

i dont know why all you dont like the wing.
i think it looks good and it would not look better with out it.
and why does it matter what his car looks like to some of you all he wants to know is how to stop the rattling.if i was in your possition i would jus try adding a layer of dyna mat on the lid or your trunk and maybe a whole nother layer around the trunk.

i can honestly say that i despise BIG AFTERMARKET wings, but that FACTORY one looks good. as for the rattling, i'm not sure it will be able to be stopped. my friend has a little factory wing on his sunfire, and it rattles like hell when he has the system turned up! i think the only way for him to fix his problem is to ditch the wing, but he doesn't blast his music in the school parking in fear he will get in trouble.

Im really not sure how wings attatch, but if it attaches with screws/bolts, buy/make some rubber washers to put against the metal.

Also, please dont get ripped off by Dynamat. order some edead from edesignaudio.com
or some raammat or also some from sounddeadeningmaterial.com

All are a lot cheaper and do the same exact thing. With the money you save, put another layer on.

You could also contact "ifandorbuts" on this forum. He sells sound deadening material. He also gives discounts to forum members. I just started installing mine. Goes in nicely. Doesn't smell either.
