HELP! '02 yukon head unit install...no sound!

I have a 2002 equipped with the onstar system. I just recently installed the Panasonic 7" in dash cd/dvd/tv, its the 7200 model. Anyhow I purchased a wire harness from a local shop, and it is supposed to be for 89 and up gm vehicles. Anyhow everything is wired up correctly and I get no sound. There is an extra clip hanging back there, perhaps I need a different harness? Maybe my onstar has something to do with this, I dunno.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Much!

Seems like I read another post simular to this a few weeks ago. I do want to say that yes the onstar is your problem. The HU is getting power right? Lights come on and stuff? When you use / used onstar before the install didnt the sound come thru the speakers? Does onstar still work after you did the install? If not then yup I bet you do need another harness.

Click on the little "Search" tab at the top and search "Onstar". There are several post on the topic. Here is what one guy said who has the same ride as you.

"You will be able to still use On-Star with a new head unit but you will need to add a speaker to the onstar unit. Keep in mind that On-Star cuts the audio out of our source once you push one of the buttons. If you add a speaker, you will be get the best of both. Also, try peripherial electronics.com site and also give them a call. They are very helpful and had what I was lookiing for in modifying my 02 Tahoe w/OnStar"

Here is the link to the whole post...

    Hope this helps
