What gauge wire for these two amps?

I will be running a speaker amp at 4 x 75 rms and a sub amp at 1x 700 rms. I was told 4 gauge split into 8 would be fine for this and that is what I ordered but before I install I wanted to double check. Is the 1/0 gauge to 4 gauge really worth the extra money?

    Thanks.

So running 4 gauge to the disto block and 8 gauge to each amp will be fine? I'm going to be totaling 1000 w rms.

i'd do 4 to the block then 4 to the sub amp and 8 to the speaker, but like the other guys said, you'll be absolutely ok.

The distro block that came with my kit splits the 4 gauge into 4 8 gauges. Should I run two runs of 8 gauge to each amp from the distro? Also, I only have a fuse on the 4 gauge, there are no fuses in the distro block is this ok?

If you have no desire to upgrade further then go with 4awg but if you might upgrade in the future then it might be in your favor to go with the 1/0awg so you don't have to upgrade it later.

I wish I would have just gotten 1/0 when I originally ran my wire

    4ga > distro block > 4ga to sub amp/8ga to speaker amp.

try to stuff in 4ga in the distro block going to the subwoofer amp; if possible. 8ga will be fine for the speaker amp cause its large enough wire. as long their is a fuse by the battery, you will be fine and wont need another by the distro block.

Anytime you go from a larger wire to a smaller wire you want to fuse it.

I ordered a multi amp stinger kit and the distro doesn't have fuses. I would think if I needed them it would have come with them right? Plus don't the amps have fuses themselves? I have a fuse about 18" from the battery.

For years I have believed this and generally get ridiculed for my opinion.

I don't fuse near the battery.
I don't fuse near the amps.

    *this bit is key* ~
I run my wire where it cannot become pinched or cut and otherwise depend on the fusing in the equipment itself to protect it.
For years this has been my practice.
For years I've not had an occasion to regret it yet.

    there's absolutely truth in it.
not doing it PROBABLY won't cost you your car, but it definitely increases the odds.
