A lot of pyramid's subs are very very cheap. They do build a couple decent subs though, especially for the cost, but they aren't a whole lot cheaper than some decent name brand stuff. The point is, if you want equipment that will sound good you'll have to pay for it -- whether it be pyramid or pioneer.

I would argue that 'sound good' is relative (and based on use/need/cost)..

If your friend has them hooked up to a stereo (in a car mind you), see if you can listen to it while playing some of YOUR music.. see if you like it.. try to see what he's using for amps/EQs/etc..

Just remeber that it won't sound exactly the same in your car, but you can at least see if they will meet your needs.. just don't pay too much for them..

If not, see if he will let you hook it up in your car to see what it sounds like (this presuming you will get subs anyway, even if you don't like his )

    (1) Alpine CDA 7892 HU ($214)
    (2) 12" Pioneer Premier 1241DVCs in sealed MDF box (gonna glass them eventually) ($69 each)
->removing.. ->(2) 10" Pioneer Premier 1041DVC's in sealed MDF box (gonna glass them eventually) ($59 each)
    (2) Lanzar Vibe248 1200 watt 2 chnl amps ($119 each)

    It's bump'n GOOD!
