Help on 2001 Civic Speaker Install... ?!?!

Hey all,

Alright, so I'm doing an install in the front door panel of a 2001 civic, thinking this is going to be a piece of cake. I get the door panel off, after trying as hard as possible not to **** up all the plugs, and what do I see? The speakers in the front are mounted on a plastic mount that's GLUED to the metal door frame. Not a screw in site - not attaching the speakers to the plastic mount, and not attaching the mount to the door frame. Now, I REALLY don't want to have to drill holes in this door frame, but could someone who's had a little more experience with Civic's tell me what I should do to install the new one's? I think I won't have a lot of trouble pulling the old one's out, but... ??????

Scratch that... they weren't glued in, but they were mounted in this crappy plastic lift-ring/mount system. It looks like the speakers were made with the lift ring attached to them to begin with. Doe anyone know if I can seperate the ring from the speaker and just use the same liftring? Or do I have to go out and try and find some special Honda speaker adapter brackets? The new speakers won't fit without that extra 3/4" lift from the plastic mount...

Advice? Help? Places to look? Anybody?
