I'm new, please help! Problem with speaker connections.

This is probably a very stupid question but I am new to car audio...very new, so please bear with me. I just bought a 98 Altima and the back speakers are crap. I have a pair of 4X6 speakers from my old car and have made an adapter plate out of plexiglass to fit the 6.5" hole. So the speakers can be securely mounted but the problem lies with the connections between the wires. The wires in the Altima have a connection that looks like this:

The old connection which run off of the speakers look like this:

    I hope those show up.

My question is, what do I do to make this work!? Is there an adapter connection that I can use or do I have to cut the wires and put new pieces on? If anyone knows what to do, how to do it, and where to get the materials, please please let me know!

yes...most japanese cars have their own speaker connections.....there are speaker adapters available that you can buy at your local car audio store...or you can look for them on ebay....but why go tthrough the hassle and why not just cut those off and connect them.......works the same way!

Re: I'm new, please help! Problem with speaker connections.

So is it just that simple? Cut the adapters off and connect black with black, red with red and wrap in electrical tape? Basically all I need is wire cutters, wire strippers and electrical tape then?

Sorry, I know this is probably a ridiculous question but I just dont want to mess things up right from the start on my "new" car. Thanks guys

Also, what is that adapter piece called? I've tried searching ebay and other sites for it but I can't find anything. What is a good way to enter it into the search field?

yes that should work fine. Instead of electircal tape id use butt splices tho if you have some if not electrical tape would work or wire nuts i guess
