I have new 5000 watt Mono Class D amp and a new 2000 Watt rms sub. The sub just does not sound like 2000 watts. The sub sounds more like 500-700 watts. I do a lot of work of systems but cant figure out why the sub does not sound loud. Any pointers

4 guage wire you're running a hell of a fire risk if you're trying to run 5000 watts through it.

Thanks for the site
Yes I wired it 2 ohm so i should be getting 2000 Rms from amp to sub. Sub handels 2000 RmsOriginally Posted by Sonnick
I have never done this before but the largest wire that I have is 2. the size that I have on there is 4 (which I was thinking was to small) but would it be safe to also hook up my 2gauge wire on with the 4. I have alot of amp kits but that is that largest that I have right now and I dont have the money right now to go buy a larger size.

Whats your amps model # first of all?Originally Posted by hotbodkev

On the back of my amp it says 2800 watt Rms not 2400 like the site

1st off, you running waay too small of a wire for that amount of power, i'd say bare minimum is 2 ga. 1ga or even 0ga would be recomended. the wire could be your problem, your not feeding the amp enough power so its not able to produce the power. now as far as maxing the gain, i definatly wouldnt do that. you could severely damage your sub doing that.
