    installing question

I am planning to buy 2 L5s with a mono amp, a 4 channel amp for my kapa interior speakers, a capacitor, a distribution block. Is it really hard to install it on my own, with help with a friend. I have experience installing hometheater, but not a lot experience for car stereo.

    Re: installing question

did you search for capacitor on the forum. If so read a few threads about caps...you will quickly learn they are useless...then Search for the Big 3, and do that.

    Re: installing question

Yep, everything you need to know is somewhere on this forum just search. If your friend has some experience you should be fine. If your unsure about any part of the install just search for your answer, and if you can't find it ask. Good luck.

It's not hard, just don't be scared and do stupid things.

    You don't need a cap.

    Re: installing question

Unless our getting an Alumapro Cap then yes they are useless....

Optima Yellow Top and The "Big Three" and you should be good with that setup

It's not to much, I started in Home audio and now I'm strictly car audio

    Re: installing question

Alumapro has nothing to do with whether or not a cap is going to do any good in a system. If the problem is too small an alt, then no cap will help.

Exactly. If your electrical system is subpar, then adding more strain to it will only cause more problems.

Actually, I believe the Optimas are built to be fully drained, while Interstates are not.

    Re: installing question

yellow top battery sounds good to me. Big 3 is connect your wires to the battery right. That's not that hard, cause I didn't before, when I first put 2 12 sub in my trunk. Also my battery is next to my spare tire. I have question about how to hook up my 4 channel and distribution block? Where do I wire the speaker wires?? Stright to speakers, or to the wire behind my deck.

    Re: installing question

For the distribution block run the power-wire from the bettery into it, and then run the outputs from it into the amps. Put the distribution block as close to the amps as possible. If it's a fused distribution block use the same size fuse as the size on your amp for each seperate wire.
You can take the easy route and use the wires behind the headunit if you want.
HO alt is a high-output alternator. Install your stuff first then upgrade your battery and big-3 as mentioned. If you have dimming still then worry about a bigger alternator.
