All right, I'm not getting any cooperation from Pyle as to the specs of my 12's (WL1270/4), (they are admittedly old) so I thought some of you might be able to help. Here is what I know: 145w RMS / 290w Peak; Sens 95dB; 4 ohm; Voice Coil 2.5"; 70 oz magnet - 11lb. motor weight and 35-3500Hz range.
When I first talked to them several years ago I believe they said they were designed for a sealed enclosure; 1.74cu each. Thing is the box a local shop built for them to go in the back of my old '84 Z28 wasn't that big. I want to build a box for my existing car, which has plenty of room for whatever size box, but I'd feel better if I had the specs themselves.
In the mean time I have a few more ?'s. If one sub has 145w RMS capacity, does that mean that if I run two in parallel that I can push 300w RMS to them? This will put the load at 2 ohms (being in parallel), will that change any of the subs power handling specs?
I notice today’s subs don't seem to need as big of enclosures, my subs are about 10 years old, what new technologies in today’s subs would I HEAR a noticeable difference from?
I plan to mount the 2 12's in the trunk firing through the rear seats (mainly a hole where the arm rest folds up), are there better placements for a sealed enclosure, or is that a matter of trial and error? Also will they mess with my free space mounted 6x9's?
The 6.5's up front give me decent midbass, but I miss my subs... any help you could provide is appreciated. I want to have this system completely thought out, researched and planned out before I even begin. I don't want to find out half way into it that I forgot to consider something.
Thanks again. God bless.
