    Icon32 Pioneer TS-W1500spl with MtX 6500D

Hello, I know this is my first post here, but just wanted to make sure I connect this thing correctly my problem is that I bought this sub about 7 months ago and also bought an MTX 6500D amp for it, but never got around to connecting them, the problem I have is the sub is a DVC 4ohms per coil according to the specifications and the amp is a monoD,but it has 2 channels, do I connect 1 voice coil to each channel since I heard that the 2 channels are in parallel or do I wired the sub to 2 ohms according to the manual and connect it to just one channel on the amp?

since the amp manual doesn't say anything about 2 ohms only refers to 4 and 8 ohms

    Specifications
    Power 12.5 VDC Input
    2 Ohm Load 500 w x 1 Low Level
    4 Ohm Load 250 w x 1 Hi Level w/ Smart
    Crossover(s)
    Power 14.4 VDC Low Pass 40Hz-200Hz -
    2 Ohm Load 775 w x 1 Variable
    4 Ohm Load 450 w x 1 RCA Output
    Low Pass Only

another question is on the pioneer installation manual it states that to make the sub turn into 2 ohms mono i have to connect ++ to form 1 wire and same thing with negative to form 1 negative wire or do I follow the diagrams on the sticky? also I have a box that was made according to the especifications it is a 1cu feet sealed box, do you guys thinkg maybe I should get a ported 1.5 cu feet box or is the box that it is in good enough? ANy help will be greatly appreciated

you can do it either way that you stated.. just keep it at 4 ohms, that'dbe best if your amp doesn't think it's 2 ohm stable.. just follow the diagram to get 4 ohms.. you can run + - from each side's wires back to the amp and just use two different channels, that'd have some decent sound as long as it's getting enough power.

well I know it is 2 ohm stable the amp can handle it I was just wondering what will be the best way to connect the sub at 2 ohms to it since I'm not really sure the 2 channels from the amp are in really in parallel. btw thank you for the answer

Re: Pioneer TS-W1500spl with MtX 6500D

here's the two ways you could wire it.. if this is what you were asking

i'd bridge the amp into a 2ohm load.

    http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42ed3...bSiEDB04hxN6Dj

then take that picture and where the + and - are, run that into the appropriate places on the amp, should sound pretty good..
if you run one channel to each voice coil you'll kinda be underpowering the subwoofer.. but it'll have faster response...

but if you like it to hit hard, then go with the bridge mono method, it's really up to your tastes..

with that amp, you wont be able to hurt that sub, <3 that line of subs, great product.

post up some pics when you're done : ) also, i'd stick with the sealed.. but well, what are oyu driving?

to make it a two ohm load, simply connect the positives on the subs, and the negatives. Then, run a single wire from a single pos/neg to a single channel on the amp.

Also, I would suggest building a larger, ported box for that sub. My 2000SPL's hated the sealed enclosure I had them in. They are drivers suitable only for portable enclosures.

hmm thanks for the fast answers I guess I will have to go with a ported box I guess should I make it according to the specified size on the manual or make it a bit more bigger?

thinking about porting the front two boxes though.. they are 1.75 cubes each.. not sure what it'll do, worse comes to worse i can just fiberglass over the hole and keep em all sealed up : )

I am actually selling my TS-W1500SPL, best bet is doing a box 1.1-1.5cu.ft tuned to 37hz and I wired mine to run 2ohm your amp will run it fine in 2ohm in low level.
