    Speakers are snapping

    Hello

I recently got a Kenwood KDC-MP628 cd-receiver installed in a 98 dodge neon r/t. A relative was driving the car and ran into a curb and drove up onto it. Now, whenever i turn the volume up past a certain point, all the speakers snap and crackle when the bass is loud enough.

I checked all the connections behind the cd player, nothing was loose or damaged that i could see.

Any suggestions or information on where i can go with this would be a welcome thanks!

    Re: Speakers are snapping

Is this "certain volume point" very high, or very low? Because, if it only does it at a decently loud volume, I'd say you are simply overdriving the speakers.

buy new speakers, factory OEM speakers are pointless when you have a new reciever for most vehicles.

    Re: Speakers are snapping

Well i dont know if its the speakers that are messed up, the wiring, or the cd-receiver. I also bought new speakers, they're not OEM.

The volume isnt very loud at all when they start snapping. As soon as you can start to feel a vibration in the car from the bass, the speakers snap, and the snapping will become more hectic the louder the volume is.

The snapping would leave me to believe it was the speakers that were blown somehow, but when all 4 of them do it, it makes me think the wiring is bad or the cd-receiver is damaged.

But, i dont know enough about the wiring to go ahead and fix it myself by messing around with it.

The snapping was never there before the accident.

What speakers do you have? Brand and model number?

    Re: Speakers are snapping

Id definitely make the relative pay for anything that needs to be replaced. Since you say you dont know much about the wiring, is there someone else you could have take a look at it? Where is Wadsworth, Ohio? If its near Springfield, Ill check it out for you.

    Re: Speakers are snapping

I'm hoping either the speakers are blown, or the cd player is now bad, because if its the wiring then i dont think i can get it fixed.

Unfortunately, Wadsworth is in NE ohio. There's nobody around here that does car audio repair.
