You won't even hear a difference going from 800W to 1,200W. I just saved you $150 that you can put into a better box, sound deadening, etc.
I have been running more than 1,500 watts to my Skar VVX's for over a year now with no problems
What amp u using?
Custom built to spec box makes all the difference.
You could always get a 2k @1 ohm amp so you could push a clean 1200 or so watts @ 2 ohms, and have room to upgrade at some point if you chose to. I run a Boston 1k @ 2 ohms amp. Love me some 2 ohm power!
So would there be any noticeable difference going from a Cadence F-700 (800wrms @ 2 ohms, 400 watts per sub) to something like a JBL bp1200.1 (JBL BP1200.1 (bp12001) Monoblock Car Amplifier, Power Amp) ~1300wrms @ 2 ohms? I'd be able to sell my old amp so it would only cost me like $50 to upgrade, but I still don't know what difference there would be if any.
The thing that confuses me is I know you need a double in power to have a 3 dB increase, but I've also heard that if you increase power, it might not make it louder, but make it 'hit harder'. What does that even mean, though?
i've got a jbl bp1200.1 that i might be interested in selling. Might be a bit outside the 150, but we could prolly come to an agreement.
I have a mtx 1501d
I have a Kicker ZX1500.1. Birth sheet reads 1700+@2 ohms. It's MINT. $300 shipped.
I have a Hifonics HFI2000D with a plexiglass back id sell ya for $150 shipped to your door. 2000 watts rms @ 1 ohm, 1300 watts @ 2 ohm.
