WTB: MDF Baffles for 2006 Passat
Hey guys, I don't have access to a good jig ATM and not sure I really trust Home Depot with keeping to a line traced on MDF, so reaching out to you guys for help. I'm looking for a set of MDF baffles for the front speakers on a 2006 (B6) VW Passat. Here's an example:

From what I've been reading, the bottom baffle is 1/2" and the speaker ring is 3/4".
So what do you guys have for options? If you have advice on what a guy like me who doesn't have access to tools can do locally, lmk as well. I plan to finish this effing project before the new year, come hell or high water.

sonic electronix sells 6.5 3/4 speaker rings. then all you have to do is cut out the 1/4" piece.

Do you have experience with their rings, though? Don't want to get something that resonates like a bitch

I might just take you up on that offer. First, I want to take the stock baffle to HD and see if I can find someone halfway intelligent to cut out the shapes on a block of MDF.

Gotcha. Found what you were pointing out. That's another option considering I can walk into SE and pick it up rather than worry about shipping. Thanks guys.

Btw, do you think the modeling clay or butyl rope over the seams is overkill or a necessary evil? I also have some leftover weatherstripping from a previous home improvement project.

copy your template to cardboard, take it to HB, get a small 2x4 sheet of MDF, transfer it onto the wood, bring it to the cutting station and see it they will or can with a jigsaw, if not have them cut the piece into a sqaure shape you need, box it up and ship it to me with money for return shipping, ill cut it, throw it back in the same box the same day and send it back to you.

You might be getting a package soon...my attempts are not successful atm. Stupid me, I thought getting a cordless saw was going to be a good idea.
