well right hur we gotz a nice processer, its got hydrostatic fluid control, and gain coils with built in comploding capacitors. and for you its just $49.99.
but if you're looking for a processor,
ive heard great things from the Arc/jbl-ms8 and fosgate 360.2
pm me for a arc ps 8 price
we need to get this guy runnin active. postem up.
look into the Audison Bit-10. Great processor for a decent price.

yes it has bandpass crossover off of the front ch's and hp on the rear lp on the sub eq for each out put right and left as well as gain adjustment for each output for type of time alignment
OP
The thing to do is find the cheapest deck you can with an (16bit -24bit) optical out and send that to a processor with a controller. (Do not use this strategry if you are sending the signal via RCA cables to the processor...) You don't need higher than 16bits for standard cd's and dvd's. The PS8 appears to have the best specs on the market. The audioson isn't far behind it.
You are making the right call in looking for external processing instead of trying to do an all in one deck. In all honesty I haven't seen many compaints about any of the processors on the market. The JBL ms8 has some blue tooth issues and a few of the others have one or two qwerks.
For me, I would prefer spending money on steps to get a more refined signal to my speakers. Distortion drives me crazy... If you can swing it do the ps8 it is the best on the market, from my month or so of research.
For your reference this is from a vendor trying to sell me a Helix processor (so take it with a grain of salt):
"I'll give you a ranking and prices I have used all of these BTW this is my opinion based only on sound, performance and ease or use.
1. ARC PS8 - $899 retail
2. Helix C-DSP - $999 retail not in the USA yet http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...ilies/wink.gif
3. Helix P-DSP - $699 retail
4. Audison BitOne - $999 retail
5. Alpine PXA-H800 - $699 retail"
Pretty much all of them have optional controllers which is REALLY helpful for on the fly adjustments. It is also required if you want to use optical out. Because the deck's port cannot send a volume signal via optical... Optical outputs bypass all HU features it is a stereo digital signal it really allows the processor to shine with no chance of rca noise or loss from long rca cables from the deck to the processor. Some of the alpine decks can interface with the alpine PXA series processors and you wouldn't have use for the controller.
All of the ones on the list above can do 4 way active, the big variations are in the userinterface, the degree of control you get, and their DAC's but some of them share the same board... lol
@mylows10 ; I bought an arc from him and you can see that his price is much better than retail.
I would shy away from a MS8, it's designed around enhancing factory headunits. Hope this helps good luck with your build.
i thought this thread was titled "looking for a nice professor" :wow:
