    Rockford HX2's better in a sealed or ported box?

    I am into buying a new sub box that will have my subs facing towards the front of the car. My subs are 2 12 inch Rockford HX2's. I told the guy that would maybe be building the box if I decide to buy a new one is I would want the box ported. He said that Rockford's dont really need ported boxes. My sealed box right now is good but I want my subs to hit harder so people outside my car can hear them. I know that ported boxes hit harder for rap music. So is it better for HX2's to be in a sealed box or ported box?

    Re: Rockford HX2's better in a sealed or ported box?

    I can tell you from experience today on the exact same speakers...

    Go ported, I had a kx1200.1 driving a sealed box and it sounded good... I blew up my 1200.1 and in the mean time switched my subs to a slot ported box and a single channel of a 350.4 and it sounds almost as good with much less power..

    A kick in the pills cuz the 1200.1 was a bit more expensive, I am still trying to figure out the best application (in another thread) for the 1200.1 powering 12" hx2's in a slot ported box (should I be running in parallel, etc.)...

    When I find out the best method to run the hx2's either in the 1200.1 or the 350.4 I will post the replies here...

    Good Luck,

    T

    def. ported - go 32-33 hz in a daily driver.

    Box = 3.8 to 4.5 ft^3 per sub

    Never heard them sealed, but must say my buddys single 12 ported (dont know tuning) and it was pretty impressive. He had a zr360 running it.
