So.... yet another ported/sealed type dilemma

heres the specifics. - I'm waiting on the soundsplinter LMT (supreme) driver to come out.......... while I'm waiting, I'm considering this
one 12" driver ported, or 2 12" drivers sealed.
for ported, I'd only have room for one, but I can fit 2 if I go sealed

if I went single woofer ported I'd power it with a 1200 watt memphis, if I did dual sealed, I'd get an orion 2500D since those rock hard.

I'm looking for SQL, which setup would sound cleaner? which would be louder?
(price is not a factor, just wondering which would sound cleaner and get louder) I hear that going ported typically gains 3db, and adding a 2nd woofer of the same size typically gives 3db... doubling your power typically gives 3db..... so I'm assuming I'd net 3db going with 2 sealed.. but am I doing the math right?

Re: So.... yet another ported/sealed type dilemma

Hmm, IMO it's hard to tell since i have no first hand experience with those subs, and im unsure if they were design for sealed or ported. Im thinking though that the dual 12" sealed will possibly give you the better results since you would be doubling the cone area but still maintaining the same wattage per sub. Now to be fair if designed right the ported could be louder than the dual sealed at certain frequencies or just plain louder and if designed correctly could have reasonable SQ. So i wrote all this to say, I have NO CLUE. but i would go Ported.. that's just me.

    that's what I mean lol
I have no idea, its hard to know with drivers that nobody's ever heard before, but I'm looking for general experiences.....
which is louder, one driver ported or 2 of the same driver sealed.
assuming all else equal, the spl should be equal
but I'm hoping the 2 drivers sealed up can be louder since I'd have double the power handling to work with.
