1. ## Tech Question about amplifier draw

I was trying to figure the total amperage draw of all my audio components, and i was wondering if i'm doing this correctly.

Amperes = Volts/Ohms

Amperes (in this case how much power my JBL bp600.1 needs to draw from the electrical system to work as it is right now) = Volts (power the amplifier puts out at the speaker terminals on a standard multimeter) / Ohms (i'm running the sub in two ohm mono mode)

The amp tested at about 35v at the speaker terminals so

35/2 = 17.5

is it safe to assume that my amp is currently drawing 17.5a or is there an error in my logic?

2. speakers are reactive meaning the resistance will change with frequency..

3. Assuming the amp is 100% efficient, and that you are making 600watts.

it's more like I = P/V

so 600/13.8 volts = 44amps or so

but, since the amp isn't 100% efficient, it is probably more like 50 amps draw from the battery.

4. but that isnt an average..you are correct in your math and formula
