    Re: RL-p 15" vs. RE XXX 15"

loudest and cleanest dont usually go together. its the triangle of compromises:

the three sides are cheap, fast and good. cheap and fast isn't good, cheap and good isn't fast, and fast and good isn't cheap. either or, or just do a compromise. imo, the xxx will be a lil cleaner and a lil louder depending on the power, but the sound splinter is a better value/performance.

    Re: RL-p 15" vs. RE XXX 15"

I went with the rl-p over the XXX and have ZERO regrets. One of the best subs I'v ever heard without a doubt and I have heard many w7's, a brahma, a xxx, etc. I'd always heard the XXX will be louder and supposedly xbl^2 will make it sound better. However, both of these claims have yet to be proven to me. The sq of the brahma I heard which was in a low tuned ported box smilar to mine was great and definitely top notch, but so is the sq of the rl-p. They were both pretty **** good and I couldnt tell you which sounded better.
As for spl, yeah, it depends on the install, but my rl-p in a box tuned to 28 hz off of less than 1kw was able to beat a XXX in a laaaaaarge box tuned to 35 hz off of double the power I had! So even assuming my car (jeep) is better than the truck the xxx was in he still *should* have had me. His higher tuning should give him a better peak good for at least a dB and him running double the power should have given him a couple dB's as well. Yet somehow I managed to outdo him. Maybe the XXX does have greater potential but the rl-p can definitely keep up and sound awesome doing it. All this for almost half the price too.
In case you didnt guess my vote goes to the rl-p!

    soundsplinter rl-p 15 (145.1 dB @ 45 hz), 2.5 cu ft @ 28 hz, eD nine.1, NEXT VRz 2.200, NEXT VRz 2.400, Coustic XM-6, eD eu-650 mids, CDT tw-24 tweets, pioneer deh-6300, cadence ZX651, edead, knukonceptz

    Re: RL-p 15" vs. RE XXX 15"

mrray13 did a comparsion in a very long thread of these two subs, but it was for 12" versions

to get to the point of his thread in a very well done test, the RL-p eaked the XXX by a little

    Re: RL-p 15" vs. RE XXX 15"

And if you don't feel like reading, the test was done with 750 watts IIRC and the rl-p was liked better.

Mike (of SS) and David (of RE) chimed in and both reccomended the Rl-p with wattages near or under 1000 watts, and the xxx while the power was higher than that (1500-2000).

Largely because the RL-p's voice coil would melt if such an amount of power was sustained daily.

    Re: RL-p 15" vs. RE XXX 15"

Should depend on the power you'll be running, if you didn't catch that in my original post...

EDIT: I'd go with the avalanche though...just....because.
