    Bass still coming from 5x7's

Well i don' thave my system hooked up right now, I'm waiting on my amp to return from JBL. But while I had my system hooked up I could still hear bass coming from the 5x7's in my doors/cab corners. I have an EQ on the head unit and can set the crossovers on the head unit. What do I do to keep the bass notes coming out of the subs from coming out of the 5x7's too? Thanks.

5x7's are made for some bass, you can't eliminate it all, you can however limit it, audiolife made a point in the post above, another cheap alternative would be bass blockers, they are about $10 for a pair.

yeah, but if he wants to eliminate most of the bass, he will need to go higher than 100 hz, probably around 300-600.

I understand that some of the bass will still come from them, I just don't want them hitting the same notes the subs are(less than 75hz). Would bass blockers keep them from hitting those notes and only pick up everything else? Also the infinity's came with crossovers, yes I have the coax's but I do believe they had crossovers too. Could I readjust these? Why don't the crossovers on the head unit get rid of the problem?

Sorry, I didn't install them myself, I ordered them off the net and brought the unopened boxes to my local audio store. They installed them. AND I checked the manuals that came with the speakers. They did have crossovers, all infinities do. Could I take the truck back to the shop and get them to adjust these crossovers or are they not adjustable?

Ok man, thanks! I was wondering if you have suggestions on a brand of crossover and if you might could tell me how much what I need would cost and what I should ask for at an audio store. Also...what about the bass blockers? I'm pretty sure crossovers would be better because I've heard of many people even getting thier subs sounding better after installing some crossovers. One last question...did you make a ported or sealed box for your solos? I have a post on another section of the forum forhelp in building a slot ported box for one solo to fit behind my seat. I'd like to compare the two in a sealed box with 600 watts a piece to one in a ported box with 600/1200 watts although I think if I ran it at 1 ohm 1200 may be too much for it to operate safely(RMS 750/peak 1500) let me know what you think. Thanks again.

i would add the bass blockers on the positive side just before the xover. you can get a 2 way xover but you would need to amp your 5x7's................. i preffer sealed but that is my tastes. ask kicker yourself they can give you all the answers you would want

Ok, I talked to Tracy Focht I think from kicker a while back. She told me if I had room and wanted it to be really loud go ported but if I wanted a tighter bass and better SQ go sealed. One of the employees at my local kicker dealer installed 3 S15L7's in his 1997 F150 extra cab with Kicker KX1200.1's on each sub. He says that he went with sealed because they sound good with all music and that with ported if you get away from the frequencies it was tuned for it lacks some quality. He also said you can make up the difference by giving them more power. I'd still maybe like to try the ported solo vs the two sealed if I ever get some spare time to just mess around. So Bass blockers and crossovers? But I would need an amp on the 5x7's before I could use the crossovers?

for an active 2 way xover yes..passive no the difference is passive goes in line with the speakers (this eats up some power a lil bit but is what came with your infinity system. the bass blockers work this way as well but their job is to do what your xover isnt doing (removing lo bass from them) your xover is splittin everything between the 5x7 woofer and the tweeter. nothing to remove the lows so use bass blockers. an active xover goes on the rca path of your system. its powered and removes and splits frequencies before it reaches your amps which is well before your speakers but as you can see you would need more amplifiers
