Icon32 JL Audio W7 Vs Kicker Solo Baric L7

JL Audio W7 Vs Kicker Solo Baric L7

    Hi I need some advice

I have been debating over purchasing one of the two speakers.

Price is not an options here but power handling and SQ is. Which is the better sub??

I'm looking to purchase a 12 inch of either and in terms of the Solo Baric I'm looking at the L74( 4 ohm).

Also consider I am only looking to run one speaker in my car and will probably go with an amp that is 1-2 ohms stable while running off both voice coils in parraell. Anybody with any advice on the two??

SQ- I will have to say go with the W7...you need to talk to audiolife on this one, cause his L7s seem to have good SQ...

neither of those, ,i would get an idmax or brahma for power handling and sq. if you only have 500-1100 watts, go with the idmax. If you want 1200 or more, get the brahma, as both of these subs will meet your tastes.

If you want SQ go with the w7's...SPL id say they are about equal. But i agree with abercrombie. For a time i was strongly thinking of going with a 12w7. But, I talked to many people and decided that a 15" Brahma would suit me alot better in both SQ and SPL and price

a large box with a qtc of about .7 or so is a different sound than most of you are used to hearing. its real smooth and gets low. basically it isnt for everyone cause of the box but listen to it sonically i would put it up against everything and on an sq level i wouldnt get killed by anything ,in fact imo id do most of the killin but that "punch" you are used to is turned into a gut rumble (a smooth one i might add) which you would think a ported is better except that sealed it sounds alot better..best way i can explain it is ported being chocolate instant pudding with lumps while my type a box/woofer is guarmet (spell check im on codine) choclate moose (i know that's wrong spelling lol)

Let me break down my opinion, I believe it is easier to obtain better SQ from the W7, but overall the L7 would probably take the W7 in an SQ contest. The reason I say this is because you must have a precise enclosure for the L7 in order for it to sound just right, takes a lot of trial and error. The W7 is pretty much the opposite, you can put it in a variety of enclosure sizes and still have good SQ. But once you get that L7 just right, it's all over, the W7 lacks the in the midbass area, and the W7 will eat it up. Of course this is just my opinion, so if your not very skilled with enclosures, take the W7. If your willing to pay $$ for an enclosure for the L7, go ahead.

Exactly, A friend of mine built 3 enclosures before he finally got the SQ he was looking for out of his L7. I believe he is working on a 4th or 5th just for the SPL side of things.
