Whats the big difference between the type-s and type-r.. With only 160w is the type r necessary?
I was hoping to put it in a sealed box

Sound quality, output...the Type R is superior in bothWhats the big difference between the type-s and type-r..
To answer your other question...with this little power for a sub, I wouldn't think of going sealed. Use a ported box or horn-loaded enclosure.
and there will still be SQ for all type of music?
I don't even think he could do it, i think all channels use the same crossover settings.
So he would either highpass the speakers and sub, or lowpass the speakers and sub, which wouldn't really work too well.
Unless of course I'm wrong and he has seperate crossovers.
My car audio addiction will be complete when my system sounds as good as my $20 headphones.
On the amp there is 2 highpass knobs, 1 lowpass knob, 2 level knobs, a selector switch, and two push buttons low/highpass (channels 1+2..3+4)
I am assuming this will work?
So the SWR-1021D dual 2 ohm is what i need? How big should the ported box be?

A single setup is definately doable. I would recommend porting the subwoofer or using it in an IB setup for best efficiency. I would try Image dynamics IDv3. A 10" Type R would work great as well, they are very efficient woofers.
Upcoming SQ competition ready install...

ib=?
for porting do you know what size i should use?
ib=infinate baffle, basically using no box, free air. if you do this, sime infinity subs are capable, and only require 150-200 watts. This may work, but may not...depends on your car
This is very complex, very difficult to master, and requires a lot of time and an awful lot of deadening in order to come out correctly. I may also suggest getting an ED kv2. There have been great reviews about them, and apparantly they perform excellent with low power such as that. They also like pretty small boxes. If they are better than the old K's i'd say they would out do nearly everything mentioned in this thread with the exception of the ID v.3Originally Posted by el_chupo_

it may be a little pricey, but maybe a RL-i?
i haven't heard one...but if it sound half as good as my RL-p
it would still be some pretty good SQ!
and i don't see how low power is a problem,
if you don't have alot of power, just make the box more efficiant![]()

IB is not the same as free-air. You are seperating the front wave from the back wave, basically a huge sealed box. Very very efficient, it may be hard getting a good seal though.

So is 1.5 cubes good for a ported box or i need much bigger?
Chris
