I don't trust Infinity subs as it is, let alone open-box items off of eGay. The best course of action would be to visit a few shops in TO, let your ears determine what sounds good. Find out what you like and don't like from a driver. Once you have a foundation to build comparisons off of it will be easier to come to a refined conclusion. High quality drivers aren't necessarily synonymous with the most expensive.
Do you know what you're looking for, or are you flying blind?
Is this not a reasonable place to park?
I am looking for a single 10" sub to fit in a 0.7 cubFt box that I already have to be powered by a Kenwood 7201 which I already have. I prefer SQ over SPL and up to a day ago price wasnt an issue. now I need something slightly cheaper.
How much can you spend? My little lady had that sub in a sealed 1 cubic ft box with 200 watts going to it and for an $70 sub from Circuit City I was impressed. It was a very effecient sub and sounded good on all types of music. Not bad at all for the money.
Well they seem to be going for amazingly cheap on eBay ... too cheap if you ask me. However I am really not looking to spend much more than $120 Cdn on a sub now, and I prefer somethign sounding better with reggae than something that will rattle the windows.
The catch is that I am powering it with a 2 channel Amp that does 2x230Watts at 2Ω or 1x460Watts at 4Ω. I dont want to blow my speakers if i set up the 460Watt bridged option.
I would go with a sub that can handle the 400 plus watts and will work well in that size enclosure. I assume you do not want 2 subs and a new enclosure? I have no idea how many American dollars 120 is. If you would be willing to get another enclosure I would say get two of those subs and run each off them at 2 ohms with the 230 watts per sub.
