Icon32 Sub choice based on musical tastes

I've searched and read here, but I haven't been able to find an answer. I listen to mainly heavy metal, for example Morbid Angel, Soulfly, Superjoint Ritual, Fear Factory just to give you an idea. There hasn't been one person that I've seen that has an audio system for mainly this music around my area, so I though I'd start with the subs for my car. The only reason I've chosen these are because they are in my price range and power range. I'm wanting to run 2 10's.
    ED 11Kv2 $115 300RMS
    ID10v.3 $129 250RMS
    JL 10W3 $160 300RMS (V2D2)
Now the JL is in there because I already have 1 brand new one that I got for a gift. I'd be willing to sell it if it meant that any of these other subs would give me a cleaner sound, mainly the kick drum, fast beats, etc. Of course I listen to classical and some R&B from time to time, but its metal I listen to most. I don't know how to read any of the subs other specs, which is where I'm wanting someone to chime in and let me know which one seems to fit my needs. Amp choices are JL 500/1, JL e1800D, DLS A6, ED NINe.1, all around the $350+- price range. I know thats a broad range, but if theres any suggestions, I'll be glad to listen to them. Thanks for any help, I only want to do this once!

    ahhhhhhhh Morbid Angel ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

For $350 prie range there are some nice SQ subs, which is needed for metal music. Look at www.soundsplinter.com. In particular the RL-i's. Great little speakers.

My ears are still ringing right now, I just got back from thier first concert with Soulfly! So do you suggest the sound splinter over the subs I listed? I didn't understand thier sealed enclosure recommendations, think you can help me out?

Well seeing as how you already have the sub. Why don't you install it and see if it meets your taste, rather than going by the word of people here.

Re: Sub choice based on musical tastes

Well I already know how its going to sound with 2 JL's, and I'm not going by what they say, I specifically asked if the other subs fit my needs better then the others listed. I could care less if someone says,"oh this ones better", Im looking for more than that, theres got to be something about a subs' specs that says one would be better at playing certain music then the other, unless someone wants to correct if this is the wrong way about deciding on subs.........

its mostly on the install brotha. slap the sub in YOUR car and go that, not by someone ELSES install. cars put a whole new spin on things sound wise for SQ and SPL. u cant even go by sayin "this one neon had 2 w3v2 d4's and thats what i want cuz it sounded so awsome"

Re: Sub choice based on musical tastes

Well I have 1 JL W3 V2D2 thats brand new, I'm just trying to see which is more cost effective, getting another one or selling it, and which is better suited for my needs. I can even out the cost buy selling this JL and the money would go towards another set of subs. So its not that I want JL, if its smarter for me just to buy another W3 then by all means someone let me know thier opinion........

Throw that W3 in a sealed box and it will work well for your music

Yeah, its a HUGE toss up between the 11Kv2's and another W3. I agree with you g30ffr3y, I didnt think my single W3 kept up with the kick drums, unless someone can recommend the RE's over the ED's. Hey even if theres a sub not listed I'm open to anything. Thanks for the help so far guys, its helping me out alot......

Re: Sub choice based on musical tastes

Do they only come in 12's? I put my single W3 in today, and to be honest, the Audiobahn ALUM10X kept up with the drums alot better and sounded a little clearer , I dont know if it was the 3ohm wiring that did that, maybe it got a little more power out of the amp? When I listened to R&B though, the JL was alot cleaner and crisp. Any thoughts?
