    kenwood amp with subs

    hey, im new to the forum and I have a question with the Kenwood KENKACX811D 1600 watt mono amplifier. I want to know if i can power 2, 2ohm dual voice coil subwoffers (12") with it, (Infinity 120.3dvc for example). Any replies are appreciated. Heres the info on the amp.


    Maximum Output Power: 1600 Watts x 1
    - Power Output at 1 Ohm, at 14.4V (100Hz, 1.0% THD): 1,000 Watts x 1
    - Power Output at 2 Ohms, at 12V (100Hz, 0.5% THD): 600 Watts x 1
    - Power Output at 2 Ohms, at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.5% THD): 800 Watts x 1
    - Power Output at 4 Ohms, at 12V (20Hz - 200Hz, 0.5% THD): 300 Watts x 1
    - Power Output at 4 Ohms, at 14.4V (20Hz - 200Hz, 0.5% THD): 400 Watts x 1
    - Power Output at 4 Ohms, at 14.4V (20Hz-20kHz, 0.05% THD): 400 Watts x 1

    So your going to be powering 2 12" Infinity KAPPA 120.3DVC Dual-Voice-Coil Subwoofers with this amp.

    yes you can use this amp. each sub will be geting 89% power, 266.5rms.

    this would work:
    R.M.S. Power Output (4-Ohms/1-Channel): 533 Watts (1.0% THD+N)

    By the way, what is 1.0% THD+N? Also, could you power two, DVC subs (2 ohm) with a 2 channel amp?

    - 1.0% THD+N is The amount of change in harmonic content of the signal as it is amplified. A lower figure indicates less change and a more accurate amp. THD below 0.10% is inaudible.

    - yeah. you can power 2 2ohm DVC subs with a 2 channel amp?
