if its all in the install how do you achieve...

ive got my XXX... mrray has done his review... the cybe says his
rl-p doesnt give him that shaking in his gonads...

if its all in the install...

how do you get that beat you in the back air pressure
changing bass sound without just throwing 2000 watts
at your sub and just making it loud an rattle everything???

dont get me wrong but my XXX is loud... very loud even
just off my viper 1200... but loud just means rattles and
deafness... how can you tweak an install to get feeling
all around your body of being IN THE BASS...

the XXX may be loud... but my e12o.44 has nearly
the actual physical change in air and puching in
the back with a lot less space taken up and a lot
less power... i think my SE even had the same
FEELING... heck... in my girlfriends sunfire ive got
a buy one get one 50.00 JBL sub ported and you
can FEEL the bass without it being ridiculously
loud and just rattling everything and sound like
    fart bombs...

sorry if this is impossible... but i had to ask...

That has a lot to do with the tuning of your box and the resonant frequency of your vehicle. Most of the time a smaller sealed box will yield more punch. Even box positioning effects that chest pounding fealing.

Re: if its all in the install how do you achieve...

does porting just make things louder or
would that help my actual goal???

i think its time to try firing into the
cabin again... it didnt work out
with the SE i think because it couldnt
handle enough power to make up
    for the change in direction...

maybe with the XXX i could find that
    happy medium...

    i wish it was spring...

Re: if its all in the install how do you achieve...

box size and type matched to sub and power.

larger sealed and lower tuned ported will help a sub get to the basement u crave...

one side effect of big boxes...while it increases the efficiency of the sub, it also lowers power handling..that's why companies usually have a good recommended enclosure size as it compliments both power handling and efficiency while letting the sub do what it was intended to do..

of course the construction of the enclosure plays into this as a leaky, flexy box just won't sound good..

also, i don't believe thecybe was referring to the lowend but rather the overall spl output of the rl-p. he said as he turned it up it skipped his cd..which would mean it was getting low...just not loud enough to his tastes..and again, an enclosure change from sealed to ported will indeed make it louder..but tweaking the current setup might as well..

Just something to mention about the firing into the cabin idea.....be sure to seal off the front of the sub from the trunk space to achieve maximum results.

I think a key there has to do with l7'S versus singular XXX. Obviously two L7's are going to be louder than an XXX, hell a lot of times a single L7 will beat it out. For all of you, port them and deaden your car.

getting the ported into the trunk???

yeah i see that a lot... i have a pretty decent sub, my friend has a 12W7, my other friend has 2 W3s... then we have one other friend with 2 W0s running off this really old school 250 watt max RF amp in a Toyota Matrix, and it sounds better than all of ours lol

My car audio addiction will be complete when my system sounds as good as my $20 headphones.

my problem is actually getting the built box into
my trunk... which is practically impossible... honda
really screwed me on this one...

seriously i had a hard time getting

    16.5 x 25.5 x 14.5 through the bulkhead...

not to mention a 15" XXX plus a box is...
well... just plain mutherfvcking heavy especially
in and out of a coupes trunk...

btw... i kinda expected more too... although i think its the box...

    I'm starting to wonder, myself if I'm just a sealed-box hater =P

    There are two sides of the argument, for me;

    It's an exact science.
    It's not an exact science.

I'm not so discerning a listener that the tinyest bit of distortion or disproportion will spoil my experience.

I'll continue to toy with the setup; It's very cold, and I'm not looking forward to building a box. Wonder how the results would be if I just ported this one ( refer above - not an exact science )
