    Icon32 Can Subs be Fixed?

I had a JL 10W3V2D2 for about a year, all I listened to was real heavy metal and it was bridged on one side of a RF 500X, and the gain was set at under 3/4's way. The headunit sub control was set at 0 and it has +6 -6. Does any have any suggestions as to why it blew, and also can they be fixed or repaired? The place I bought it at only has a 1 year warranty, I was only a month over Thanks for any help yall can give me.......

The gain was 3/4 of the way up, or under 1/4 of the way up?

Well, 3/4 of the way may have clipped the signal and that would have caused the subwoofers coils to melt/fry. You could have just pushed it hard, hard and harder for a year and it finally gave out. Give us a little more info like what kind of box it was in, the power for one chan of that amp bridged and if there was a lot of stinky, white smoke.

    Re: Can Subs be Fixed?

It was in between 1/2 and 3/4's way. All I listen to is the drum beat in heavy metal music, and it was not driven hard at all what so ever, it was rare if I ever did. It was in a 1cu. sealed box. No smoke, the RF amp sheet said 650 watts, so I figure at least 300 was going to it. It'll only work if I turn it up real real loud, and I'll hear some bass come from it, but it will cut in and out alot and sounds real staticy, and after about 20-30 mins it wont work at all, does this sound like a blown sub? I know the amp is fine because I already have another sub hooked up, everythings normal there.....

Have you checked the wiring in the box? No shorts or loose wires? See if the cone still moves freely by pushing down gentlely in the center. check the resistance on the coil/coils. It doesn't have to be blown. Could be some other problem.

Get a digital multimeter, set it to resistence (ohms), and then put the probes on the connectors on the sub.
