Two Choice : Pioneer or JBL sub/box combo. Which one?

Hi, it's my first post and I really need some expert help choosing the right sub for my VW Passat sedan. I live in Oz and cannot afford really expensive subs/amp and have narrowed my choice down to these two. (Which my local shop currently has in stock...)

    http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_ent...ox2/index.html

    http://international.jbl.com/car/pro...nguage=ENGLISH

Now which one would give me the best SQ and non-boomy punchy bass..?
I will most likely buy a 150 to 200w rms amp. (Most likely be a 2ch bridged)

I really am short of money but want the best i can. If i spend an extra $50, i can get the 10" Kicker CVR in a box. Is this better than the above two subs?

anyways, any advice on the ones up the top would be great. thank you!!

Re: Two Choice : Pioneer or JBL sub/box combo. Which one?

Does the GTO one need a subsonic filter?
Not sure what frequency it's tuned for that's all.

With a 200w rms mono amp with subsonic filter, which one would give me tighter sound with better SQ you think? Should I go there and get them to powerit up to se how it sounds? (Not sure if this is possible..)

    x2 on the GTO.

Although, I would want to know what those boxes were tuned to, anything over 38Hz or so isn't going to have very good SQ.

Does that mean the enclosed box of the Pioneer will have better SQ overall in most frequencys? (it's not like I pump up the volume insanely, but would love it as punchy and tight/controlled as possible at high levels...)

ok..the pioneer gives you alot more power ability..
pioneer gives you deeper, tighter bass.
pioneer will be cheaper i bet.
    whats your question???
jbl less power, not deep bass, costs more.?????

well pioneer stuff will get really cheap sometimes....
if you look hard.....in clearence sections of sellers.... ---all i know is 400rms is bigger than 250rms for jbl.
i dout jbl get down to 23hz.....
supa...from cali..laughs is there one person out there with a desent car stereo that isnt from some1s else????
the south has the best car stereo stuff......
kids in the south understand stereo n how to use them where you just think the more i spend the better its sounds.Wrong.......
when i see some1 with $2000-$4500 worth of stereo stuff bragging how great it sounds its sad....of coarse it sounds loud it cost that much..most people here have $2000 at the most and is great! thats good car stereo....
you have to understand car stereo......i mean after its installed...how your gear is used best.....

    P.S
Go with the GTO, its better than the pioneer.
The 200W RMS amp will be better on it anyhow

Thanks supa c. The GTO in that box costs around US$200 (in Sydney) and can't get much cheaper than that for a brand name sub/box.

Seems like i'll be going for the GTO, thanks!
