my experiences at various stores the past weekend

So i was free this past weekend and i went around to a bunch of different car audio stores just for some browsing. here are some of my thoughts

-I didnt find the JL w7 to be all it was talked up to be. it was in a slot ported box(not sure the hz) and was hooked up to the jl audio 1000/1. It sounded ok, but it didnt get as loud as i thought it would

-I am in love with the mtx 9500. I thought that was the best sounding sub that i have heard, it got really loud to with no distortion or bottoming out. it was connected to the same jl 1000/1 amp.

-I listened to some Bahn subs, and didnt like any of them. they just didnt have the same sound depth other subs of that price range had

-I also listened to the alpine type r, and the alpine type x. the type x was a great sub, but i dont think it is worth the money.(about 500)

Im still looking forward to hearing some tempests, resonant audio, and various kicker models.

sorry if this is a useless post, i just thought i would share my thoughts on some of the msot talked about subs.

Remember...output in a room and output once in the vehicle are two different things entirely, you don't get "cabin gain" like you would in a smaller space such as a car.

what did u think of the type r?

i didnt get to listen to the alpines much, expecially the type r. at the time i didnt see much difference between the x and the r, but it was just part of one regular song so their isnt much to base a comparison on.
