It cant handle that power for a continuos amount of time but it could withstand it for a short period.

Don't go by it. Look at rms. That's what matters.

NdNplaya, RMS is generlly 1/2 of the PEAK, or less
peak can be 2000W while its RMS is just 700 or 800 w rms.
u will find that in the manual.

Or even better I had a jbl gto100 and it had a peak of 1k watts. Its rms was 250 rms I believe. The peak rating was pointlessfor daily driving.

Re: What does the peak watts on a subwoofer mean?

I've fed my 350 RMS subs over 600 RMS apiece before. They moved like hell, pounded like the ****ed, and didn't blow. Yay.

I went through ebay looking for a pair of 6.5s for my bro (christmas) and I saw a few that said 1300 watts on them. I laughed. If they took that much power I'd mount them in the doors, attach my amp, and use them like subs.

    What does peak power mean?

Nothing. It's an inflated figure in general to make speakers seem better than they really are.

Fuc, how come when I copy and paste **** it never gives me the cool blue thing in my sig. Sonofa*****withhotredtabascosauceonmynutz!!!!!
