    System sound like crap

I recently installed a Panasonic 501u , a pair of JBL 6x9's GTO935, and a pair of JBL 4x6's. It sounds like crap! When I try to turn the bass up, it gets all distrorted and sounds muffled and crackly. It can get pretty loud, and is pretty clear untill I turn the bass up. Should I just turn the bass off? I know I need to get subs and an amp, but I'm working on it. I should have 2 12" HX2's and a JBL 1200.1 in about 3-4 months, but untill then my stuff doesn't sound very good. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Your speakers just can't handle those lower frequencies, and turning the bass up amplifies them. When you get your subs you can filter those lower frequencies out, making your system loud and clear. I don't think the 501u has a built in equalizer, so you have to just deal without the bass for a while. It will sound a little high pitched and and lack that fullness of sound, but it will be all good when you get your subs.

I'm never wrong, EVER! Just ask me.

When you get your subs, put bass blockers or even use crossovers with the speakers...for now, you can upgrade your speakers if you want.

    maybe...

make sure your positive negative wires aren't switched on your speakers...doin that will make the bass sound like paper.
