never listened to any re sub. the idmax is an excellent sound quality sub. very tight and accurate bass. it also gets decently loud. the sx i heard is more of an spl sub. the se is probably more of your all around pretty good sub for the price.

if he knows what he is doing. the guy at the audio shop cnearest to me doesn't even know what box tunning is. he looked at my box and told me my part was too long and i told him it was tunned to 30 hz. and he looked at me like i was speaking in a foreign language and said my port should be shorter like 8 inches. he just pulled that figure out of his *** i guess. so it depends. you can learn how to build a box. get someone to do a box diagram for you and just go out and build one. a sheet of mdf cost $20, plus another $10-15 in supplies and you can have home depot cut all the wood for you. then go and get a six pack and assemble it by yourself.

the sx is a more spl geared sub. it can handle i believe around 1200 watts rms. the se is a lower line sub but a decent all around sub. it can handle a good 700-800 watts rms. the se would be more sq, sx more spl.

    Re: Sub options

either one would make an excellent daily driver setup. with your amp i would recommend the se. the sx can take a lot of power, but with the amount of power you are giving it would push an se nicely. a good install with a nice box and it will sound pretty good.

    Re: Sub options

don't really have experience with the re se's but the idmax can handle more power than the se. the idmax is a great sq sub that gets decently loud. some people have compared it to a jl w7. it depends on what amp you go with. if you are gonna get a bigger amp i say idmax, if you stay put with the smaller amp i say go with the re se.
