    Icon33 broken w7

my 12w7 was distorting at all volumes so i took it out of the box to look at it, and i noticed that the paper between the oice coils and the cone looked liek it had been folded or cracked. i can probaly get to this paper circle, but does anyone kknow how much it will cost for someoen else to do it and wehre i can get that myself??

    ill have pics tomorrow

Are you talking about the spider? If it is that then sorry but your subwoofer will need some serious TLC by JL. I personally would like at a new sub, it will cost a lot for a new spider most likely. I dont think you will be able to fix the "paper circle". I would check to see if it is under warranty.

    Current setup...
    Infinity 6.5s
    Infinity 6x9s
Alpine Car Alarm for $14.00 installed (Workin at CC)

    Future Mods:
    Alpine 9825
    Speakers
    Some Amps
More subs than my car can handle (Four)
Hydraulics on a Stratus? Sure why not...

    Re: broken w7

Assuming you didn't cause the damage due to negligence (It would take a LOT of throw to unseat the spider on a 12w7), that might be a manufacturer defect, which should be covered by JL's warranty.

    Re: broken w7

The pic doesnt work for me, but the spider is attached to the cone. Its flat round and usually ribbed. Either way it doesnt sound good, if its distorting its not good

    Re: broken w7

waht do u mean ribbed... liek the wavy flat circle??... if so that is not the problem. the problem is the paper that conencts that to the cone.

    Re: broken w7

you are talking about the spider ring...that happened to my sub but it started rattling at all times unless I turned it up incredibly loud. Either way, mine was covered on warranty and yours should be too.

most likely more than you want to pay. More than half of what the sub is worth.

    Re: broken w7

Is this what you are talking about?

    http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/W7_SpiderAttach.html

If so, that's probably covered under warranty.
