took my sub out of the box today to see if the tinsel leads was slapping against the cone (brahma 12). i played it free air, and the noise doesn't seem to be coming from the wires hitting the cone...it seems to be coming from under the dustcap. is it time for a recone? i should have paid a bit more to get a new brahma instead of a used one

hmm post on the org also. adire im sure will do a recone for a reasonable cost. it could be the spider.

Its a one piece dustcap that covers the entire cone (except the 18). It really changes nothing on the internal design of the sub, and wouldn't change this situation (if the sub is having internal issues). I think he was just joking.

That was a problem with the older brahmas.
Arent there felt pads on the cone where the tinsel leads are ?
Recone is $100, there is no details about shipping

My XXX's have the felt pads, dont know about Brahma's.

yeah there are felt pads where the leads touches the cone, but the sound isn't coming from there. the spider is still good all around.

just played a frequency sweep today. the noise seems to more noticeable during the low stuff. higher bass...it's not as noticable. I'm going to email adire to see what they suggest.

hmmm. check and see if the dustcap is coming off. i had that problem awhile ago.

mine does that too, xdrkmanx though it was tinsel slap. i look it out played it free air, and i couldnt figure it out. sub is in good shape over all except the surround. cap seems to be on tight. i think it only happens with mk1's. i'm gonna get it reconed to a mk2 soon see if that helps it.

if it really was coming off (haven't checked), would any epoxy work?
