    Icon32 .65 cu ft box. 1200w @ 1 ohm. Which 10" sub?

I'm building a small enclosure (about .65 cu ft). The amp I have is a JBL 1200.1 which is 1 ohm stable and pushes 1200W RMS (I believe). From what I've heard here, most people vote for the brahma 10" sub for an enclosure this small. The lowest price I've seen for this sub is $349 at the Adire website. Does anyone else know of a better deal for this sub?

If anyone knows of another 10" dual voice coil (2 ohm) sub (from an established manufacturer) that works well in this enclosure AND can handle 1200w RMS @ 1 ohm, let me know. Thanks in advance.

you could do anything with dual 4 also... the JBL BP 1200.1 also puts out 1200 x 1 @ 2 ohms =)

    back at it...

That's true but right now, I still haven't decided if I want to run 600W at 4 ohms or 1200W at 1 ohm. I am unable to upgrade my alternator so my power is limited. I do have an Alumapro 5 farad cap and my vehicle battery is an Optima yellow top so this should be a good enough band-aid. I don't want to install an additional battery just for the system. With a dual 2 ohm sub, I'd be able to cruise around at 600W (4 ohm configuration) and could rewire my sub for 1 ohm configuration (1200W) if desired.

you would be better off with a ported 10 @ 600w.. maybe an RE SE or RE SExxx than the brahma... but i think the prices at the adire site are MSRP (if im mistaken please let me know) and it will be less. ~400 is a hell of alot for a single 10.

you will be better off with 600w ported though. at least thats my 2c.

i dont think he will have the room to go ported. and i think he is looking for the biggest bang for the space allowed..... but i could be wrong.

Soundstream Davinci 10" subwoofer will work in that size box but it has to be vented. It's duel 2ohm, 1,000w rms 2,000w peak. It weights around thirty pounds and is still brand new. It's your for $150.

    Re: .65 cu ft box. 1200w @ 1 ohm. Which 10" sub?

With the enclosure I'm building, I really don't have room for a port. I have come across a few subs that may work but want to get a few opinions on them:

    Audiobahn AWP310T 10" Woofer $195.00 - 259.99
    10" Pro compression woofer
5.5" Dual 2 ohm voice coil
    1000 Watts RMS power handling
    Frequency response: 26Hz-1000Hz
    Efficiency: 93.8dB
    Magnet weight: 180oz.
    Mounting depth: 4-1/2"
    Mounting diameter: 9-3/8"
    Outer diameter: 10-3/8"

    Rockford Fosgate Power HX2 RFR3110 $189.00
    Size: 10 inch
Rec. Sealed Box Dims: 0.63 cu.ft.
    Free Air Usage: not recommended
    Sensitivity: 83 dB
    Frequency Response: 28-400 Hz
    Recommended RMS Power: 1000W
    Peak Power Handling: 2000W

Now I want to balance cost with performance so cheapest isn't necessarily my goal. If I could afford the higher priced Brahma ($350+), I would get that since I've never heard anything negative about the Brahma. Feel free to add any subs you may think would work for me.

Brahma and XXX you really cant go wrong with either of those..... loud and clear.......

oh yeah and XXX and Brahma are some of the best subs out there and will stand up to the W7 which is 200-400 more...... so i would just pick one of those up....
