Alpine Type-R or Rockford Fosgate P3

I'm thinking about getting either 2 12" Rockford P3's or 2 12" Alpine Type-R's. What are the ups and downs to each sub? What other good subs are out there for about 200-300 a pair? I found 2 12" Type-R's for 205 and 2 P3's for 270.

Also, is the Rockford P5002 or the T5002 a good sub to power these? I'm lookin to spend about 200-300 on an amp (Ebay prices)

type Rs for sure much better sq and SPL in my opinion..

you could find an amp like mine for that price (hifonics bx1605d).. the amt. of power i have on tap seems perfect for my subs.

oh yeah and its loud as hell.

I've never been impressed with Rockford's Power series. Not to mention they're overpriced.

    I would say the Type-R.

The RF P3 is not impressive at all.

Re: Alpine Type-R or Rockford Fosgate P3

I just bought 2 Type R 12's. I have a 1000 watt 4 channel amp, would it sound better if each one to a seperate mono amp instead, or would the legacy beable to run them both and sound equally as well? if i do the mono's, how would i wire them, would i have to bridge the two together or hook each up seperate or what? if sum one could just basically walk me thru the whole process for whichever amp they think would do better, id really really appreciate it cuz i never have good luck picking the correct set up, so id like for one to work out finally. thanks

Re: Alpine Type-R or Rockford Fosgate P3

You should have went with the rockfords, trust me,the alpines are good but not against p3s,p3s have WAY better sq,with the same amount of bump as a type r,you wont regret going with rockford, most of the people that dislike them have never had them,i have had both and i stuck with the p3s,i burnt out an alpine on 700 watts true power, they just put the peak at 1500 for the hell of it,try giving a alpine 1500 true watts and see what happens.
